I read a book, New Yorkers: short stories. This book has five short stories. All of them are interesting for me. The most interesting story is 'Soapy's Choice.' Soapy wants to go to the prison during winter because it is so cold. In addition to this, if he stays at prison, he has food and good friends. So, he manages to be arrested by the policeman. He dose bad things, such as breaking a window, stealing someone's umbrella.... However, unfortunately he can't be arrested. One day, he decides to change his mind and spend his new life. He makes up his mind not to do bad things. Then, he is arrested by policeman. It ends in tragedy.

I read a book, The Monkey's Paw. It is a scary story. I read this book at night, so I felt frightening. Mr. and Mrs. White lived happyly with their son. But, one day, Mr. White's friend came to their house. And he gave something to them. It was a monkey's paw. You take the paw in your right hand and then you wish..... You can make three wishes, but unhappiness things happen to you.

class of American literature, so I tried to read it. This novel also became a movie. I want to watch this next. This novel describes racial discrimination. I'm interested in the background of at that time. Mark Twain is famous writer. So I try to read his other works.

I read a book, 'Esio Trot.' This book has also pretty pictures. They are illustrated by Quentin Blake. This story is easy to read and interesting! Main character is Mr. Hoppy. He loves Mrs. Silver. But she loves her pet, tortoise. She don't attention to Mr. Hoppy. And she want her pet to be bigger. One day, he comes up with a very good idea. That is to replaced her pet with bigger tortoise. I think this idea is funny. His idea works well. In the end, Mr. Hoppy can marry Mrs Silver.

I read a book, 'The Phantom of the Opera.' The reason why I pick up the book is I went to see the musical, 'Love never dies' when I stayed in Oklahoma. It is the sequel to 'The Phantom of the Opera.' I went Oklahoma to teach Japanese to high school students. And I stayed with an American family for ten days. They were kind. My host mother took me to the musical on Saturday. I was moved to their acting. But, of course they performed in English, so it was hard for me to understand all contents. I have to study English more and more.

No. 3 London

Big red buses... Buckingham Palace... the London Eye... Big Ben - these are only some of the things in London. It is a big, beautiful, noisy, and exciting city. More than eleven million visitors come every year from countries all over the world. (p. 40)

 I read a factfile book, "London." This book is written about London, so if you are interested in this country, you should read it! This book has ten contents such as about city, building, museum shopping and food. So, I'll introduce some of the parts which I am interested in.

 First, I'll tell you about city. London is a great city. Two thousand years ago, London was a small village by the River Thames. Then the Romans came and built a town, and thousands of people lived there. And now, in the twenty -first centry, London is the biggest city in Britain and has more than seven million people. I think the most famous building is The Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. It is the home of the British government. The clock high up on the building is called Big Ben, but really Big Ben is the bell in the clock. It is so big! You have must hear this name, 'Big Ben.' I want to visit there someday.

 Next is about famous things in London. The British Museum in Great Russell Street is the biggest museum in Britain, and the oldest museum in the world. It opened in 1759. There are 94 galleries, a reading room, and bookshops. You can learn about London and its people from its earliest times. If you want to know more the history of London, I recommend you go there. I'm interested in the museum, so I want to go someday. In addition, there are a lot of shop and delicious dishes. But, many of the most famous shop is too expensive. That is 'Harrods.' Maybe you hear or see the word before. Oxford Street has many big shop, for example, Selfridges, Marks and Spencer, Debenhams. So we can enjoy shopping. When I have money and time, I want to go there and have a great time. If you want to go in Europe, let's go to London!

I read a book, "Dead Man's Island." I was surprised at an unexpected ending. The main character is Carol. She is a student and loves Jake Rosso who is a famous singer. However, he dies in a car accident, so she is so sad. Moreover, she can't go to school because she was shocked about his death. One day, she and her mother go to the strange island to work. Her mother works for Mr Ross who lives in the island. She notices that he has a secret. If you want to know his secret, please read it!

I read a book, "The Canterville Ghost." It was a frightening story, but I thought it was interesting. There may be many ghosts in the most grand old house. Some of them are quiet and kindly, others are noisy. The latter cause people a lot of trouble, for example, people can't get any sleep at night because of always banging doors, crashing about in chains and many other things. Therefore, people are always afraid of them. However, an American family decide to live in a house where a ghost stays. They are not afraid of ghost, but expectations, ghost is afraid of people. If you are interested in this story, please read it!

I read a book, 'Within High Fences.' The main characters are Nancy, Tom and George. Nancy works as a guard. Tom is her boyfriend, so they live together. They have a lot of moey, so they get whatever they want. But she doesn't want to live with him any more because he is often angry with her and looks down her. George is an asylum seeker and stay at Nancy's working place. One day, Nancy saw George was kind to a little child. She comes to be interested in him little by little. If you know more, please read it!

I read a book, 'Wild Country.' This is love story. The main characters are Tess and Grant. They are tour leader and work together. But, they don't like each other at first. They look down on each other. During tour, they have different opinions, some accidents happen and many other things. Although they have a lot of quarrel, they fall in love each other little by little. So I was glad that this story had a happy ending. I enjoyed it! If you are interested in the book, please read it!

I read a book, 'Strong Medicine.' The series of the story is mystery, so I was surprised at the end of the story. Many people appear in this story, so it was complicated for me to understand. The main character is Mark Latto who is a British doctor. And Deborah Spencer who is an American doctor of Chinese medicine. They are friends. One day, Latto goes and meets Spencer to know how to cure Parkinson's Disease. However, Spencer has already dead. What happened to her. If you know more, please read it!

I read a book, 'The Man from Nowhere.' The story gave me a thrill, so I enjoyed reading it. One day, a man, a woman and their child ride in a private plane. However, the plane crashed in the desert because of an accident. They had only some food, water and clothes. They could see only desert alound them. They needed someone's help, but nobody couldn't them. So the man decided to walk to the nearest village for help. However, the sun was shining brightly and burnt his back, so he was so tired and needed some water. Moreover, he couldn't see. He couldn't think. He didn't know where he was or who he was. So, what will happen to him?

One day, a woman visits Holmes because her sister was killed by someone. And the way to die is so strange. The woman lives with her stepfather who is violent, so she is afraid of him every day. I read a book, 'The Sign of Four.' Sherlock Holmes and Watson spend boring life. One day, Miss Morstan visits Holmes. She wants him to help her. She receives the letter from someone who she doesn't know. And the letter says, "Go to the Lyceum Theatre tonight at seven o'clock. Stand outside the entrance, on the left. If you are afraid, bring two friends. Do not bring the police. You have been deceived, but you will learn the truth tonight." So Holmes, Watson and Miss Morstan decide to go there together. This story made me excited, so I want you to read it!

As you know, Holmes is the most famous detective in the world. And he and Dr Watson are the best friends. They helped each other to solve the accident. One day, an accident happened. A woman was killed by someone. Accidentally, Dr Watson saw the someone was killing her. He was afraid of the criminal. But, the criminal was...... If you know the criminal, please read it.

I read a book, 'Frankenstein'. This story is scary, but it is interesting for me. The main
character is Frankenstein. He makes a big mistake because he takes parts from dead people and builds a new 'man'. The monster is so big and frightening. Nobody approches him, so he wants to feel love. However, he has a ugly face and everyone hurts him when they see him. He feels angry, so he learn to kill someone.... Frankenstein feels also scary, but he can't tell anyone his secret. Therefore his agony continues for a long time. Moreover, some accidents happen. The monster asks Frankenstein to make a woman because he wants company and doesn't want to feel lonly. However Frankenstein suffers from this. If he makes a new 'man' again, his concern will grow. I read a book, 'Gulliver Travels'. I knew the story because I learned in the English class at high school. But, this book has more detail story than the textbook. It was very fun. Gulliver travels many strange countries. For example, Lilliput where the people are only fifteen centimetres tall, Brobdingnag where the people are huge, Houyhnhnms where horses control. The most favorite story is Houyhnhnms. This country is controled by horses which are intelligent. There are Yahoos who look like people. They are foul and smell. Actually, it is a real human in this country.

I read a book, 'The House by the Sea'. It is a very interesting story for me. The main characters are Carl and Linda. They are married couple and spend a happy life at first. They buy the house by the sea, so they spend their weekends. He is a businessman, so he has to do a lot of work. Therefor he can't go home early. On the other hand, She wants to stay with him more, so she talks him that she wants him to be with her more. However he can't say 'Yes' because of his many works. She feels lonly and sad. One day, she dose not arrive at the house and he begins to worry. After that, some happening occurs. I understand not only Linda's feeling but also Carl's one.

I read a book, 'One Day'. This book consists of four stories, and each story is related. The main characters are Jason, Nina, Maggie and Sam. A lot of people appear, so it is complicated. However, this book is easy to read because it has easy words. The most interesting story is the Jason's story. Jason is a seventeen -year-old boy and lives with his mother at 12, Moreland Road in Bath. The story begins from a normal Friday evening in Moreland Road. He plans to meet Maria, his girlfriend that day. However, something worse happens to him. Because of this, all of their lives changes. If you have a time, please read it!

I'll write about this book reviews. Larry's family have all their usual illnesses. She and her mother have bad colds. Her brother has a problem with his ears. Her sister's spots are worse than ever. Only my oldest brother is healthy. Therefore, they need to live in the country. That's why the air in the countryside is fresh and pure. Moreover they need sunshine..., so they move to the countryside. Their new life begins. I come to want to live in nature because these characters enjoy in nature. I think this book is easy to read and short, so anybody can read it quickly. I read a book, 'Moondial'. The main character is Minty. When she spoke the word, 'Moondial!', a cold wind went past her, and she was in a different centry. She met Tom and Sarah who was ghosts. And so her strange adventure begins. She is kind and active parsonality, so I like her. This story is very strange, so it was difficult for me to understand it. However, I recommend this book. Minty's adventure had a lot of scary happenings. This story is similar to the Japanese movie, 'The Girl Who Leapt Through Time'. This main character can also go over the time. If you are interested in this story, please read it.

I read a book, 'The Red Badge of Courage'. The main character is a boy. He wanted to be a hero and fight for his country and its people. Therefor he decided to leave home and join the army. He also had to get permission from his mother. However his mother cried about this. She didn't want him to get hurt. She needed him here on the farm more than the army needed him. But he left his home and join the army. At first, he was happy because he could join the army and become a hero. Gragually he wanted to go home and felt fear.

I read a book, 'Anne of green gables'. I think this is a famous story in the world. The reason why I chose this book was I knew this story. So, I thought I tried to read in English. When I was an elementary school students, I watched this story on TV for the first time. This was very interesting! And this story was made into a movie. I want to watch it! In this story, the main character is Anne. She likes talking very much. One day, Marilla Cuthbert and her brother Matthew want to a boy orphan to help on the farm. However, they get a girl, Anne. They are so shocked about this. But the ending of this book is very happy. If you are interested in this story, please read it.

I read a book, 'Justice'. This story is about terrorists. Sometimes I was scary and sometimes I was exciting. In other words, reading this book gave me a thrill. If you like feeling a thrill, I recommend this book. The opening of this story is the father who are in this book is deceived by a woman. And his daughter is involved the accident. My spring vacation

My  spring vacation was hard time because of my part time job. My part time job is restaurant, so during spring vacation was so busy. However I had good time having a meal out with my freiends and going karaoke. The end of vacation, I went to Miyazaki with my boyfriend. We did sightseeing in Aojima. There were beautiful sea and Aojima-jinja and so on. We also went to Sanmesse-nichinan. I went there for the first time, so I was so fun! Eventually I was very busy, but I enjoyed vacation.

This book is love story. The main character is Stella. She had a human relationship's problem a few years ago. So, she tried not to meet new people. I read a book called 'Tracey's decision.' When I looked for the English book, I read the back cover of this book. I was interested in Chris's trouble and this title. So, I read it. This book is very interesting so I could read quickly and finish fast. This story was very surprising me. The main character is Tracey. She becomes to love Chris, however he has a secret thing which he can't tell anyone. And she knows his secret....

I read a book called 'Love story.' This book is very moving story. The main characters are Oliver Barrett and Jenny Cavilleri. They meet at the library for the first time. They fall in love soon. Oliver is good at sport, very smart and rich man. On the other hand, Jenny is poor and plays music. They marry, but...... Something happened to Jenny. It was very sad and painful things. I read a book called "A picture to remember." This story is a bit scary. A woman, Cristina in motorbike caught an traffic accident. After that she lost her memory about this accident. My heart was very beating when I read this book. This story has many characters, so I couldn't understand easily, but I enjoyed.

I read a book called 'Love by design.' The main characters are Tom and Rita. Tom wants to be an artist and a photographer, but he works at the library because he failed his exams. One day, a girl, Rita comes to his library and smiles to him. Then he falls in love. Tom makes friends with Rita and knows that she wants to be a model. So he decides to help her because he loves her. They found an advertisement. It said, 'Model Wanted.' This is very strange to Tom. But Rita is very happy to look at the advertisement. So they apply. Unfortunately. this was swindle. The reason why I chose this book is this picture is interesting. I enjoyed his story, so if you're interested in the book, please read it.
